Supporting learning poolside

Outline

This course allows school staff to work with a small group of pupils of similar ability in shallow water under the direction of the Swimming Instructor.

Description

This course enables schools to decrease group sizes and provide targeted support for individuals or groups of pupils which can help increase the overall percentage of pupils to swim 25m.

This will allow the practical application of knowledge, the understanding of teaching points and effective technique. It will also allow them to review their own swimming technique and style in the practical session.

Outcomes

Important information: This course is both practical and theoretical. A component of the course requires a session (approximately 1 hour) in the pool (shallow end). Time in the pool is not a test of candidates’ abilities but a chance for them to: experience and explore what the tasks feel like; how the swimmer’s body moves; use the resources, floats, woggles etc. The rest of the course will be in the classroom.

Booking Information

Certificate of attendance will be issued after the event.
