BTEC Advanced Award for Teaching Assistants Working With Sensory Impaired Young People - Hearing Impairment

Outline

The course will consist of theory and practical activities to develop skills for working with children and young people with a hearing impairment across early years, mainstream schools, complex needs schools and colleges.

Description

The aim of the course is to help mainstream schools, special schools and sensory services to provide quality training of teaching assistants to equip them to support children and young people with sensory impairments. The course at Award level consists of five units of work delivered as lectures, practical skill sessions and work-based learning. The five units are mandatory and will require attendance on all five days.

Outcomes

BTEC Level 3 Advanced Award. Accreditation at BTEC Advanced level requires course attendance on all 5 days and task based activities. The course requires a commitment to produce 5 assignments and study time outside of the study days.

Audience

Teaching Assistants need to be supporting or have regular access to a young person with a hearing impairment for the duration of the course in order to be able to meet the assessment requirements.
