Running Successful Parental Engagement Session

Outline

Do you feel confident to effectively engage parents on RSE?

Description

Effective Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) is a triangulation between school, parent and pupil. The new guidance places a duty on schools to work closely with parents when planning and delivering relationships and sex education. Effective RSE consultation with parents can help parents understand the purpose and importance of RSE in keeping their children healthy and safe. It can also support parents to build on RSE in the home, developing important channels of communication with their child. By reducing the fear of parental backlash schools are empowered to deliver high-quality, needs led RSE.

Attendees will be provided with a power point presentation to facilitate a parent engagement session in their school.

Outcomes

Identify approaches that will maximise parental attendance at RSE events.

Anticipate and consider how to overcome parental anxieties and contentious responses to RSE.

Confidently facilitate an effective parental engagement session on RSE, using a provided power point.

Provide guidance and information to parents to support RSE in the home.
