Do you feel confident to effectively engage parents on RSHE?
Effective RSHE is a triangulation between school, parent and pupil.
The new guidance places a duty on schools to work closely with parents when planning and delivering relationships and sex education. Effective RSHE consultation with parents can help parents understand the purpose and importance of RSHE in keeping their children healthy and safe. It can also support parents to build on RSHE in the home, developing important channels of communication with their child. By reducing the fear of parental backlash schools are empowered to deliver high-quality, needs led RSHE.
Attendees will be provided with a power point presentation to facilitate a parent engagement session in their school.
- Identify approaches that will maximise parental attendance at RSHE events.
- Anticipate and consider how to overcome parental anxieties and contentious responses to RSHE.
