Can your school evidence the impact of your RSE curriculum?
Schools should have the same high expectations of the quality of pupils’ work in RSE as other subject areas. A strong curriculum will build on the knowledge pupils have previously acquired. Teaching should be assessed and assessments used to identify progress and interventions. RSE formative and summative assessment requires more implicit and creative methods than other curriculum subjects.
Attendees of the course will know how to assess pupil knowledge, values and skills acquired through the RSE curriculum.
- Understand why RSE assessment is important in maintaining a needs-led, age and stage appropriate approach to RSE.
- Identify a range of implicit assessment strategies that provide both formative and summative assessment of pupil knowledge, values and skills.
- Be able to use assessment to provide evidence of impact.
