This training covers the statutory duty of conducting the headteachers appraisal, it also covers governors’ responsibilities for performance management of all staff including the well-being of the headteacher and staff.
By the end of the session governors will be able to:
- Understand the statutory requirements and context of performance management throughout the school
- Know the process required to conduct the appraisal of the head teacher
- Understand how to use and set SMART objectives
- Be aware of the well-being aspects of the governors’ role

- Make a charge to governing boards that have subscribed to our Governance and Leadership Service to cover the costs of administration and catering involved. Current charge £50.
- Invoice for the full cost of the course/event to ‘Pay as You Use’ delegates.
